RIM Offering Premium Apps for Free in Response to Blackberry Outage

Research in Motion will be compensating Blackberry users for that global Blackberry outage last week by offering 12 free "premium" applications.

Some would argue for not having access to Blackberry email or messaging that free apps does not do them justice which makes complete sense. Others argue it appears as though the offering of apps is more of a marketing ploy to draw Blackberry users back to the app store.

No matter what your opinion or view on the matter you can now get the following apps for free from Blackberry starting on October 19th until December 31, 2011. Here's what's in store for you:

  • SIMS 3 – Electronic Arts

  • Bejeweled – Electronic Arts

  • N.O.V.A. – Gameloft

  • Texas Hold’em Poker 2 – Gameloft

  • Bubble Bash 2 – Gameloft

  • Photo Editor Ultimate – Ice Cold Apps

  • DriveSafe.ly Pro – iSpeech.org

  • iSpeech Translator Pro – iSpeech.org

  • Drive Safe.ly Enterprise – iSpeech.org

  • Nobex Radio™ Premium – Nobex

  • Shazam Encore – Shazam

  • Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant – Vlingo

This is actually just the beginning of the list of Blackberry apps that will be made available, over the upcoming weeks additional apps will be made available.

For those corporate aka enterprise users RIM has not forgotten about you. Research in Motion will be offering enterprise customers one month of free Technical Support.
