MOG Music Streaming Service Preloaded on AT&T LTE Smartphones

MOG which provides unlimited streaming of music has just closed a deal with AT&T Wireless to have the service pre-installed on AT&T's LTE smartphones. The LTE enabled smart phones would include:

  • Samsung Galaxy S Skyrocket

  • HTC Vivid

The MOG app will be pre-loaded on these devices where customers can try out the service for free for the first week. Once the week is over the streaming music service will cost you $9.99 per month and will be billed directly thru your wireless carrier ie it will show on on your phone bill.

MOG is a great deal when you consider there are over 13 million songs in their catalog and this isn't their first foray into strategic partnerships. MOG is already available as:

  • standalone iOS app

  • Android app

  • desktop app

  • in BMW vehicles

  • LG and Samsung TVs

  • Boxee

  • Roku

  • Sonos

  • Samsung Blu-ray players

MOG believes the deal with AT&T will definitely help grow the user base especially because many of the signup hurdles will be removed. As a pre-installed app on AT&T LTE enable smartphones the pre-registration process is now eliminated.

The main concern we see with the service is that the trial period is relatively short in being only one-week. Also details haven't been included as to whether you would automatically be billed after the first week or not. No one wants cellphone bill shock.
